Enchanted Garden Book Club
an online, quarterly, fairy-tale book club for adults Join us on FacebookJoin us on DiscordWhat is the Enchanted Garden Book Club?
This is our quarterly book club to discuss fairy-tale retellings. Discussion months are March, June, September, and December. We choose titles in December for the following year. Elizabeth and Mary do individual reviews on their respective blogs, and do an in-depth discussion covering the questions below. We host more open discussions about the book on our Discord community and in our Facebook group. Join us on Discord or Facebook to discuss all things fairy-tale, as well as the current book club title.
Our in-depth discussions cover six questions:
- In what ways is the retelling similar to the original fairy tale?
- How are the two stories different?
- Did the retelling retain enough of the original to be satisfying? Why or why not?
- What did the retelling do better than the original?
- What gaps did the retelling fill in that were missing in the original?
- Any additional thoughts about this book?
